Smokies Trip Report

March 10-13, 2001

Over Spring Break 2001, the Smokies were our destination for a four day trip along the Appalachian Trail. Along the way we met many people. We met a group of high shool seniors from Jackson, Mississippi. They called themselves the Jackson Five and were making their way south from Newfound Gap to Fontana. We also saw many thru-hikers. One of them was Chuck, who called himself Lone Wolf. He was heading north to Maine with a light pack and covering large distances.
