We returned to complete the section of Appalachian Trail in North Gerogia. Compared to the snow and freezing cold of the 2001 trip from Springer Mountain to Neels Gap, this trip was like a walk in the park. Highlights of this section of Appalachian Trail include: the firetower on top of Albert Mountain, Standing Indian Mountain, the gnarled tree at Bly Gap on the border between GA and NC, and Tray Mountain. In addition, this section of trail has some of the best shelters we have ever stayed in. Most of the shelters are relatively new with a few of them having nice lofts to sleep in. All the credit goes to the volunteers who do such a marvelous job maintaining the trail.
