Samuel Pierson Sr.
Samuel Pierson, Sr., son of Thomas
Pierson Sr., was born in Branford, Connecticut and moved with his
parents at the age of 3 to Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. Carpenter. He married
his first cousin, Mary Harrison, daughter of Sgt.
Richard and Sarah (Hubbard) Harrison, about 1692 and they relocated
to Orange, Essex County. Samuel was a deacon in the old First Presbyterian Church
in Orange.
They had the following children:
- Joseph Pierson
was born 1693 in Essex. He married Hepzibah Camp, daughter
of Samuel and Mary Camp, about 1715 in Orange, Essex County, New Jersery.
They had 8 children. Joseph died in 25 August 1759 in Orange.
- Hannah Pierson was born about 1696 in Orange.
- Samuel Pierson, Jr. was born in 1698 in Orange.
Farmer. He married Mary Sargeant (1700-1779) and they had 9 children. He died
in 1781 in Orange.
- Daniel Pierson was born in 1703 in Orange.
Judge. He married Jemima Ogden (1709-1776) in 1728/29 in Orange, Essex Co.,
NJ. They had 7 children. Daniel died in 1777 in Orange.
- Caleb Pierson was born about 1705 in Orange.
He married Ruth Ogden and they had 1 child. He also married Sarah __ and they
had 2 children. Caleb died intestate in 1743.
- Jemima Pierson was born about 1707 in Orange.
- Mary Pierson was born about 1709 in Orange.
Samuel died 19 March 1730 and was buried in the "old
graveyard, with an honorable memorial" reading Samuel Pairson at the First
Presbyterian Church in Orange. Mary died 15 November 1732 and is also buried
in Orange.
