Johann Wilhelm Müller/Miller

Johann Wilhelm Müller, son of Johannes Müller, was born born 21 Feb 1822 in Ober-Seemen, Germany and baptised 24 February 1822. His godfather was his great uncle, Johannes Müller (1777). Johann Wilhelm earned his living in Ober-Seeman as a blacksmith, farmer, and tax collector. His occupation was listed as: Smith, Ackermann (Fieldman) Gemeinderechner (literally community-counter = census taker?). He married Maria Bach, daughter of Kaspar Bach and Anna, on 2 August 1845 in Ober-Seeman. She was born 2 June 1823.

Johann and Maria had the following children:

  1. Gertraud Müller was born 17 November 1846 in Ober-Seemen, Germany. She died in Ober-Seeman on 31 August 1849.

  2. Johannes Müller was born 12 November 1848 in Ober-Seemen, Germany. He died January 1920 in York County, Pennsylvania. They had three children: John, Frank, and Albert.

  3. Anna Christina Müller was born 28 March 1850 in Ober-Seemen, Germany. She married ___ Bell and had no children. She died 23 June 1895.

  4. Maria Bach Müller was born 26 October 1851 in Ober-Seemen, Germany. She died 9 January 1853.

  5. George Bach Miller was born 2 July 1853 in Ober-Seeman. He married Anna Bowersox Bringman and they had 6 children. George died 25 February 1929.

  6. Johann Heinrich Miller was born 12 April 1855 in Ober-Seeman and died 20 December 1855 in Ober-Seeman.

  7. An Unnamed twin to Johann Heinrich was stillborn on 12 April 1855 in Ober-Seeman.

  8. Mary Jane Miller was born 29 August 1858 in York County, Pennsylvania. She died 3 May 1936.

Johann emmigrated alone to America in late 1854 or early 1855. In August 1857 Maria (Bach) Miller and her 3 surviving children, Johannes, Anna Christina, and George set sail from Bremenhaven in northern Germany aboard the Bark Blücher.  They arrived at the Port of Baltimore on 11 September 1857. Tom Hench has written a marvelous story about Maria and children's trip in 1857.  They settled in York County, Pennsylvania before 1860.

Johann died 24 February 1866 in York County, Pennsylvania and was buried in St. Matthew's Church, Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania. Maria Bach died 22 November 1896 in York County, Pennsylvania.
