George Bach Miller

George Bach Miller was born 2 July 1853 in Ober-Seemen, Germany. He came to America with his mother and siblings in 1857. Upon the death of his father, Johann Wilhelm Müller, in 1866, George was hired out to Daniel Miller (no relative) to work and help support the family.

George married Anna Bowersox Bringman, daughter of John and Anna Mary (Bowersox) Bringman. Anna was born 9 October 1861 in York County, Pennsylvania and was baptised 2 November 1862 atSt. John's Lutheran, Abbottstown Boro, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

George and Anna had the following children:

  1. Harry B. Miller was born 10 August 1885 in York County, Pennsylvania. He died 9 October 1891 and was buried in Spring Grove, York County, Pennsylvania. Died of diphtheria.

  2. Laura Edith Miller was born 23 November 1886 in York County. She died 25 October 1891 and was buried in Spring Grove, York County. Died of diphtheria.

  3. Paul Francis Miller was born 25 January 1889 in York County. He married Rosie Yost and they had three children: Dorcas, Martin, and Anna Mary. Paul died in 1952.

  4. Mary R. Miller was born 12 May 1893 in York County. She died 14 April 1894 and was buried in Spring Grove.

  5. John Bringman Miller was born 28 August 1897 in York County. He married Florence Rauby and they had 2 daughters: Evelyn and Ruth. John died 19 October 1964.

  6. Esther Amanda Miller was born 4 August 1905 in Spring Grove, York County, Pennsylvania. She attended Marion College for 1 year (1923-24) and then attended the Peabody Institute in Baltimore where she studied music. She married Alton Luther Geesey on 6 September 1930. They moved to Hagerstown, Maryland in 1931 where they raised their 2 sons. Esther died 13 August 1998 at the National Lutheran Home, Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland and was buried 19 Aug 1998 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.

George Bach Miller died 25 February 1929 in York County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. Anna Bowersox (Bringman) Miller died 2 August 1931 and was also buried in Spring Grove.
