Joseph Millburn, son of Charles and Clarida (Howell) Millburn, was born on 5 May 1843 in NJ.

Joseph married Landin Sophy (Sophia) about 1868. Landin was born on 16 October 1848 in NJ. Family stories indicate that Landin Sophy was a Native American. However, a mitochondrial DNA test taken in 2007 by one of her descendants showed that Landin Sophy's maternal lineage was in fact, European. Perhaps her paternal lineage was native American. We may never know. Her death date is unknown.

Joseph died at the NJ Home for Diabled Soldiers of a Gastric Ulcer on 6 May 1910. He was interred in Succasunna, NJ.
