Henry Kuhn Sr.

Henry Kuhn (son of John Kuhn I) was born about 1718 in Bavaria. He came to America about 1732 with his parents and settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Henry married Anna Margaret Schmidt before 1741 in Macungie Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Anna was born about 1720.

They had the following children:

  1. Margaret Kuhn was born about 1740 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA and was baptised in 1741. She died 19 July 1742 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA.

  2. Anna Barbara Kuhn was born before 28 March 1742 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA. She died 9 April 1791 in Paradise Township, York County, PA. Anna married Henry Eckroth about 1763/1764 in Berks County, PA. Henry was born about 1736. He died 11 July 1813 in York County and was buried at Conewago Chapel, Edge Grove, York (now Adams) County.

  3. Anna Margaret Kuhn was born 22 April 1744 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA. She died in Lehigh Township, Northampton County, PA. Anna married Peter Kass about 1765. Peter was born about 1744.

  4. Mary Ottilia Kuhn was born about 1745 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA. She died in Hampfield Township, Westmoreland County, PA. Baptismal sponsor was Ottilia Meyer. Mary married Christian Ruffner on 1 July 1764 in Bally, Bucks County, PA. Christian was born about 1745.

  5. Anna Catherine Kuhn was born before 13 April 1747 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA. She died 1772/1773 in Lehigh Township, Northampton County, PA. Baptismal sponsors were Adam and A. Catherine Staab. Anna married Phillip Ruffner on 1764/1765 in Bally, Berks County, PA. Phillip was born about 1747.

  6. John Kuhn II was born about 1749 and died 11 September 1807. He married Catharine Eckenroth and they had 10 children.

  7. Henry Kuhn Jr. was born 1749/1753 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA and was baptised in 1760. Henry married Anna Margaret Wider (Widner) on 16 January 1776 in Bally, Berks County, PA. Anna was born about 1750. Wedding Witness: Jacob Kuhn, Groom's brother. They moved to Unity Township, Westmoreland County, PA by 1790 where Henry was very instrumental in establishing Sportsman's Hall congregation, now known as St. Vincent's Archabbey.   8. Anna Mary Kuhn was born 1749/1753 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA and was baptised in 1759. She died after 25 March 1812 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, PA. Anna married Matthias Brucks on 7 November 1773 in Northampton County, PA. Matthias was born about 1753.

  9. Jacob/James Kuhn was born 1753/1759 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA and was baptised 1765. He died October 1778 in Salisbury Township, Northampton County, PA.

  10. Joseph Kuhn was born 6 May 1760 in Cedar Creek, Bucks County, PA. Conflicting evidence states birth date in June 1760. Joseph married (1) Elizabeth Tapper in 1781 in Bally, Berks County, PA. Elizabeth was born about 1760. She died 7 March 1817 in Adams County, PA and was buried in Conewago Chapel, Edge Grove, Adams County, PA. Joseph also married (2) Margaret before 27 September 1818 in Adams County, PA. Margaret was born about 1763. She died 13 September 1833 in Adams County, PA. Joseph died 17 February 1824 in Mt Pleasant Township, Adams County, PA and was buried in Conewago Chapel, Edge Grove, Adams County, PA.

Henry Kuhn Sr. died 22 August 1765 in Salisbury Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Intestate Probate, Philadelphia County, PA 17 June 1767: Guardianship for Henry, Mary, Jacob, and Joseph, minor children of Henry, deceased. Anna Margaret died 22 November 1773 in Salisbury Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and was buried 24 November 1773 in Bally Cemetery, Salisbury Township.
