John Kolego Jr.

John (Jonas) Kolego Jr., son of Jonas Kolego Sr., was born in 1886 in Slovakia, Austria-Hungary. He came to America with his father in 1902, arriving at Ellis Island on 15 December aboard the SS Chemnitz (Immigration Record). They settled in Marion Heights, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania where he worked as a coal miner. John married Annie Andrews, daughter of George and Mary Andras, on 24 February 1908 in Marion Heights. Annie was born May 1889 in Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.

John and Annie had 7 children, all born in Marion Heights, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania:

  1. Mary Helen Kolego was born 3 November 1908. She married Andrew Bondura, Sr. and had 11 children. They moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1942. She died 26 November 1998 in Essex, Maryland.

  4. Dorothy Kolego married Tom Valerius.
  5. Elenora Kolego married Jack Zwisler.
  6. John Kolego
  7. Joseph Kolego

John Kolego died of pneumonia about 1940 in Marion Heights. Anna was living in Marion Heights shortly before her death, but her children brought her to Baltimore, Maryland while she was ill, where she died in 1955. Both John and Anna are buried in Marion Heights, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
