John Jacob Giese 

John Jacob Giese, son of Johannes, was born 17 October 1791 in York Township, York County, Pennsylvania and was baptised 10 November 1791 in Blymires Church, Dallastown, York Township, York County. Baptismal sponsors Bernhardt Kaussler and wife Magdalena. He died 10 February 1866 in Dallastown and was buried in Blymires Cemetery, Dallastown.

John married Maria Elizabeth Flinchbaugh on 29 July 1819 at the German Reformed Church, York, York County. Maria was born 17 April 1801 in York County. She died 21 December 1870 in York County and was buried in Blymires Cemetery, Dallastown.

They had the following children:

  1. Catherine Giese was born in York County and was baptised July 1820 in Blymires Church, Dallastown. Baptismal witness Mary Romer.

  2. Johannes Geesey was born 4 January 1824 in Dallastown and was baptised in Blymires Church, Dallastown. Baptismal witness Michael Inners. Johannes married Mary Young about 1850. Mary was born 1830/1831 in Pennsylvania. They had 7 children.  Johannes and Mary both died after June 1870.

  3. Elias Geesey was born 22 June 1826 in York Co. and was baptised 16 September 1827 in Blymires Church, Dallastown. Baptismal witness Jtn. Dackerty and wife. Elias married Sarah about 1855. Sarah was born 15 October 1826 in York Co.. She died 20 May 1904 in York Co. and was buried in Blymires Cemetery, Dallastown. Elias died 5 May 1906 in York County and was buried in Blymires Cemetery, Dallastown.

  4. Louisa Giese was born 23 May 1829 in York County and was baptised 9 Aug 1829 in Blymires Church, Dallastown. Baptismal witnesses Peter & Catherine Romer.

  5. Sarah Giese was born before April 1833 in York County. Sarah married Michael Hose, Sr., son of Dietrich and Receni Hose, on 3 December 1848 in York Township, York County. Michael was born 26 September 1822 in York Township, York County and was a blacksmith. They had 15 children including Amanda, Louisa, and Michael Jr. Sarah died after 1870.

  6. Jacob Giese was born 10 March 1833 in York County. Jacob married Margaret about 1857. Margaret was born 17 February 1837 in York County. She died 3 October 1890 in York County and was buried in Union Cemetery, Dallastown. Jacob died 10 January 1918 in York County and was buried in Union Cemetery, Dallastown. Age at death recorded on tombstone: 84-10-0.

  7. Edwin Daniel Geesey was born 7 August 1836 in Dallastown. Edwin married Mary Ann Felty, daughter of Ignatious Felty and Susannah Kuhn, on 25 August 1859 in York County. Edwin died 21 February 1900 in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.

  8. Margaret Giese was born about 1839 in York County.

  9. William Geesey was born 1844/1845 in York County.

Orphans Court Docket R186: 2 Apr. 1833: Upon petition of Jacob Giesey, Anthoney Knisely Esq. appointed guardian of Catharine, John, Eli, Louisa, and Sarah, minor children (under 14) of John Giesey late of York Twp.
Orphans Court Record T266: 26 Mar 1840: Upon petition of Jacob Geesy for Eli, Louisa, Sarah, Jacob ,Edwin D. and Margaret Geesy as minors under 14 years of age. Jacob is a son of Catharine Geesy, deceased and his children are entitled to money coming from her estate. Anthony Knisely was their guardian and lately died. Petition to appoint Christian Inners as guardian. Catharine and John, both older than 14 and younger than 21, also petitioned to have Christian Inners as their guardian.
