Johannes Henricus Eckenroth
Johannes Eckroth was born in 1709 in Eggerode, Westfalen, Münster. He was baptised on 21 March 1709 at the Katholisch Church, Eggerode, Westfalen, Münster (Germany) with the name Johannes Henricus Kreyenscmit. Brian Cartwright has written the story
of Johannes Eckenrode and his family. On 5 September 1743 Johannes Ickroth and Henrich Eckenroth arrived on the Snow Charlotta, John Mason, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. Both took the oath of allegiance to the government at the Courthouse in Philadelphia, PA. He settled with his wife and young children in Lynn Township, Bucks County (now Lehigh County), at the foothills of the Blue Mountain, which formed the extreme northern boundary of the Penn-Indian treaty of 1732. This general area was christened "Allemangel", meaning "lacking in all things", by Reverand Henry Melchior Muhlenberg following his vist there in March 1747.
Johannes married Anna Margaret Bennick before they came to America in 1743. Anna was born on 1 August 1709 in Eggerode, Westfalen, Münster.
They had the following children:
- Henry Eckenroth was born about 1738/1739 in Germany. He lived near Cedar Creek, Macungie Township, Northampton County, PA
On 7 June 1760 he purchased the "old improvement" of his father's land consisting of 81 acres plus 6% for roads - 86 acres total. He was a member of the Northampton County Ranges during the Revolutionary War (1778-1783).
Henry married Anna Barbara Kuhn daughter of Henry Kuhn and Anna Margaret Schmidt about 1763/1764 in Berks County, PA. They had 6 children born between 1766 and 1779.
In 1785/86 he deeded his 81 acres of land to his brother, Christopher, and moved to York (now Adams) County along with his mother and Matthias Keefer about 1786.
He was recorded in the 1790 Census in Paradise Township, York County, PA. In 1800 and 1810 he was recorded in Berwick Township, Adams County, PA.
His will was dated 31 May 1806, probated 28 Oct 1813. Names wife, Christina, as executrix. Lists 6 surviving children.
He died on 11 Oct 1813 in Berwick Township, Adams County, PA. He was buried on 13 Oct 1813 in Conewago Chapel, Edge Grove, Adams County, PA.
- Peter Eckenroth was born about 1738/1739 in Germany. He died in Mar 1769 in Lynn Township, Northampton County, PA.
- George Eckenroth was born about 1740 in Germany. He married Anna Maria Neyer (b abt 1755 in Germany) about 1781. They had 11 children. He died in May 1805 in Lynn Township, Northampton County, PA.
- Mary Elizabeth Eckenroth was born about 1741/1742 in Germany. She died after 1818 in Berks County, PA.
- Christopher Eckenroth was born about 1742/1743 in Germany. He died before 8 March 1813 in Chillisquaque, Northumberland County, PA.
- Anna Margaret Eckenroth was born on 22 April 1744 in Cedar Creek Macungie Township, Philadelphia County, PA. She was baptised on 25 July 1744 in Bally, Washington Township, Berks County, PA. She died after 1808 in Berks County, PA.

Hartman-Eckenroth (marriage): 8 May 1785 before Mass in Matthias Keffer's house at Allemangel, Michael Hartman, widower to Margaret Eckenroth, wido Beverts; witnesses: Matthias Keffer (brother-in-law of bride), Henry Eckenroth (brother of bride), and Margaret Eckenroth, the mother of the bride.

Catharine Eckenroth was born about 17 November
1746 in Philadelphia County, PA. Catharine married John
Kuhn on 18 January 1767 in Monte Acuto, Spitzenburg Hill, Berks
County, PA. Catharine died 29 May 1815 in Mt Pleasant Township, Adams County,
PA.
- Mary Elizabeth Eckenroth was born in 1750/1754 in Northampton County, PA. She married Mathias Keffer, Jr. She died on 26 January 1824 in Berwick Township, Adams County, PA.
Between April 28 and May 28, 1757, some six months after a detatchment
of 16 men under Lt. Engel's command were stationed at John Eckenroad's following
an inspection of Fort Franklin, located over the Blue Mountain, John was killed
- "shot dead" - by the Indians while he was in the fields plowing.
His burial site has not been found, but was probably on his home farm in Lynn
Township, Northampton County, PA.
Anna Margaret never remarried and continued
to live on the family plantation until 1785. Sometime after May 8, 1785, she,
with her son Henry, her daughter Mary Elizabeth, and their families moved to
Paradise and Berwick Townships in York (now Adams) County, where she died on
September 6, 1790, and was buried in the Conewago Catholic Cemetery.
