Johann Conradt Giese Sr.,
son of Heinrich, was
born 27 March 1718 in Hassloch, Pfalz and was baptised 30 March 1718 in
the Reformed Church, Hassloch, Pfalz. Godparents: Johann Coradt Dambach
and Miss Anna Catharina Neff (daughter of Conrad Neff).
Johann Conradt married (1) Anna Barbara
Werles, daughter of Ulrich Werle, on 15 April 1738 in the
Reformed Church, Hassloch, Pfalz. Anna was born about 1718 in Hassloch,
Pfalz. She died about 1742 in Lancaster Co., PA. |

- Catherina Barbara Giese was born 3 June
1739 in Hassloch, Pfalz and was baptised 7 June 1739 in the Reformed Church,
Hassloch, Pfalz.
- Maria Elizabeth Giese was born 16 May
1740 in Hassloch, Pfalz and was baptised 22 May 1740 in the Reformed Church,
Hassloch, Pfalz. Maria married Christianus Bleymeyer,
son of Georg Martin Bleymeyer and Johanna Fridricca Schmaltzhaff, in 1769
in Hopewell Twp., York Co., PA. Christianus was born 3 April 1741 in Massenbach,
Schwaigern, Germany. He died 1805 in Hopewell Twp., York Co., PA and
was buried in Blymire's Cem., York Twp., York Co., PA. Maria died 20
Dec 1818 in Hopewell Twp., York Co., PA and was buried in Blymire's Cem.,
York Twp., York Co., PA.
In 1741 Johann Conradt and his family emigrated to America. They departed
from Rotterdam, Holland aboard the ship St. Andrew, Charles Stedman, Master,
and arrived at the port of Philadelphia. The ship's list recorded him as
"Conrad Gissy". On 2 October 1741 Conradt made his oath of allegiance to
King George II of England (spelled Conradt Kiesie). Palatinate immigrants
in Philadelphia suffered from a variety of diseases during 1741 including yellow
fever and small pox. Hundreds are known to have died. They first settled
in Lancaster Co., PA
First Reformed Church, Lancaster, Lancaster Co. records 1737-1806, Part 5, Roll
133-134 by Rev. John William Hendel lists Conradt b. 27 Mar 1718, Emig. 1741,
Anna Barbara, Catherine 3 June 1739, Maria Elizabeth 16 May 1740.
They later moved to York Township., York County, PA where they established a farm
near Blymire's Church in Dallastown. After
Anna Barbara's death Conradt married (2) Maria
Agatha Bär, daughter of Johann
Ulrich Bär and Anna Klein, about 1745 in York Co.,
PA. Maria was born 28 February 1720 in Ittlingen, Pfalz. She died 17 December
1787 in York Twp., York Co., PA. Johann Conradt was first mentioned in
Blymire's (Reformed) Church record in 1752.
Conradt and Maria had the following children:
- Johann Jacob Giese, 1st was born 1746
in , Lancaster Co., PA. Jacob died 1823 and was buried in Blymires Cem., York
Co., PA. Member of the Reformed Church, Blymire's Union Church. Farmer.
Jacob married Eva Catrina (Catherine) Frey,
daughter of Conrad Frey and Catherine, on 26 May 1769 in the 1st German Reformed
Church, York, York Co., PA. Eva was baptised 19 January 1749.
Jacob
served in the American Revolutionary Army. York Co. Troops, 3rd Battalion,
6th Co. (Capt. George Long). Return of 16 October 1780 listed
as in York Co. Militia, 1st Battalion, 2nd Co. (Capt. John Long).

Christian married (1) Mary Inners, daughter
of Johann Innerst and Margaret Schaeffer, about 1768 in York Twp., York Co.,
PA. Mary was born 1756 in York Twp., York Co., PA. She died after 14 Apr 1781.
Johann also married (2) Elizabeth Flinchbaugh
on 25 Mar 1783 in 1st German Reformed Church, York,
York, PA. Elizabeth was born 1760 in York Twp., York Co., PA. Daughter
of Hans Flinsbach and Margaret Simmetinger. She died 6 November 1831
in York Twp., York Co., PA.

Tax List of 1783: owned 80 acres of land, 1 horse, 2 cows. Docket,
Court of Private Sessions of 1784, York, notes that he was appointed Overseer
of the Poor for Shrewsbury Twp.
1800 Federal Census John Christian had: 1 male 16/26. 2 Females:16/26 1 female
10/15
Land Patent: 5 Nov 1811: 70.4 acres.
He died 6 February 1831 in Shrewsbury Twp., York Co., PA and was buried
in Blymires Cem, York Twp., York Co., PA. Orphans Court Record T163.
6 August, 1839. "Christian Geesy of Shrewsbury Twp. died intestate leaving
Elizabeth his widow, since deceased, and children John Geesy, also since deceased,
Margaret, widow of __ Ruhl, Catharine, wife of John Garberich, and Eve Geesy.
He was seized of 117 acres. Record T195. 17 September 1839. Said estate vallued
at $3.46 per acre or $401.36. Taken at valuation by Eve Geesy."

Giesy of York Twp., in good health of body. Children: Conrade, Christian,
Henry (deceased), John, Katharine w/o David von Suberon, Margaret (deceased),
who was w/o Henry Flinchbach, Elizabeth w/o John Bleymeyer, Lydia w/o Conrade
Bernhard. Mentions: the heirs (not named) of deceased daughter Margaret. Also
mentions 1) he is to be interred in the burying ground of Blymyer's Church,
2) his real estate. Executors; trusty friends Anthony Knisely and Adam Flinchbauth,
both of York Twp. Witnesses: Susana Knisley and Mary Knisely.

- Maria Margaret Giese was born 31 March 1754 and
was baptised 20 May 1754 in Christ Lutheran, York Twp., York Co., PA. She

Maria Margaret.
Maria married Jacob Inners, son of Johann Innerst and
Margaret Schaeffer, on 1775 in York Co., PA. Jacob was born about 1752 in
Bucks Co., PA. He died 21 March 1839 in York Co., PA. Yeoman/Farmer.
4 children: Jacob (11 October 1775), Margartha (11 October 1775) twins baptised
28 October 1775, Blymires Ch. John (b 1780), Conrad (b 1785, d 1875).
Death date is husband's second marriage date to Anna Maria Michael.
- Johannes (John) Jacob Giese
was born 1 April 1755 in York Twp., York Co., PA. He died 4 Apr 1830 in York

Revolutionary War Veteran, 6th Co., (Capt George Long), 3rd Battalion, York
Co. Troops.
- Henricus Giese (Keesy) was born 2 July 1762 and
was baptised 25 July 1762 in 1st Reformed Ch., York, York Co., PA. Baptismal
record: Parents Conrad Gusse wf Maria Agnes Baer, Sponsors Nicklaus Schaeffer
and wf. Henry married Nancy (born 1782) in 1803, and they lived in Dauphin
County, Pennsylvania in the early 1800s. They had about 7 children, but so
far we only know the identity of their eldest, John. They moved to Huron
County, Ohio about 1832 with their son, John, and his family. Henry died 2
January 1856 and was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Richmond Township, Huron County,
Ohio.
Revolutionary
War Record: PA Archives, Colonial Record, Vol. 16, p. 160:
"September 16, 1789--Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania read and approved
account of Conrad Giese, Sr., of York County, for a gun taken from him for public
service in the year 1776, when the militia marched for Amboy in the State of
New Jersey; amount £2-10-0."
Johann Conradt also married (3) Magdalena
Schwartz on 15 February 1791 in York Township. Recorder of Deeds,
York, Q-244, 7 November 1802, entry refers to a marriage contract with Magdalena
Schwartz made 15 February 1791. They had no children together.
Upon his death in 1802 Johann Conradt left an estate of 120 acres in York Twp.,
valued at 175 English pounds. County tax lists also show: 1 dwelling house,
1 barn, 3 horned cattle, 1 horse, 2 sheep.
