George Andras was born May 1856 in Slovakia, Austria-Hungary. He married Mary who was born February 1851 in Slovakia where their eldest children were born. George came to America in either 1882 or 1884 (records disagree) and settled in Mount Carmel Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Mary and their children joined him in 1885 or 1886. George and his sons worked in the Coal Mines.
