Mark and Maria Geesey's Family Home Page

News from Mt. Pleasant, SC, January 2007

Has it really been six months since we updated this page? Does it seem like time is going faster? After our summer break and all of the activities that made it such a busy summer, our family settled down to the Autumn schedule with school and our jobs. Kyle is now in third grade and Cosette is in first. Both are doing very well. Kyle tested for and passed his Tae Kwon Do exam for purple belt. The next step is brown belt, which promises to be a big step and at least a year away. Cosette is still actively pursuing her horse riding and participated in another show in October. Although she didn't win any ribbons this time, her enthusiasm has not diminished

During October we were able to spend a weekend in North Carolina at our new mountain home enjoying the fall colors. We are loving our trips to North Carolina more every time. Christmas in our household was quiet this year with no travels and no family visiting.
We made another trip to North Carolina during a long weekend in January when the kids had off from school for two days due to teacher workdays at the end of the semester. This time we were joined by the Lamont family. We had a great time together seeing some of the sights, and just relaxing in front of the blazing fire or in the hot tub.  We got in a day of skiing at Appalachian Ski Resort. It was the first time for both Kyle and Cosette. Kyle insisted on renting a snowboard, not realizing just how difficult it would be. Both kids had lessons all day and even Maria had a couple lessons. All the lessons gave Mark the opportunity to take off by himself and enjoy the full range of slopes available for skiing.

Maria and Tammy were very happy to have the personal attention of Steve for their afternoon ski lesson.

Here's one last photo taken on the beach this January. We've been enjoying unseasonably warm weather this winter (that's not a complaint). We are looking forward to visiting Mark's parents in Albuquerque, NM during Spring Break. It will be our first visit to see them since they moved to NM early last year. We are all excited about exploring another place and spending time with the grandparents.
