The first half of this year seems like it was consumed by purchasing and finishing up the construction on our new mountain vacation home in Valle Crucis, near Boone, North Carolina. Although we had never visited the High Country of North Carolina, we knew that it would be a great place to vacation and have a rental property. In February we visited the area over Presidents' Day weekend and found just what we were looking for: a log home located in a scenic spot not far from the skiing, hiking, and touring attractions that the area has to offer. So far, we have made 10 trips to our new home and put in many hours of work furnishing and finishing up the many small construction and decorating details that were needed to place it on the rental market. We are now (finally) open for business. You can see pictures of our new home at the web site of our rental agency, Foscoe Rentals.
Here are a couple of our traditional
Easter Day photos taken on the shore of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. |

| Cosette and Kyle are still very active in Horse Riding and Karate. In April Cosette participated in her first horse riding competition. Despite being the youngest rider, by far, in her class, she won a sixth-place ribbon in "Walk Trot Pleasure". We are very proud of the dedication and work she has put towards her riding. Earlier in the year Kyle earned his green belt in Tae Kwon Do karate. He participated in a local tournament and won trophies in both sparring and forms. Kyle is continuing to work over the summer and hopes to test for his purple belt this Fall. | |

| We took a one-week vacation in June to our new mountain vacation home where we were joined by Maria's parents for several days. We had a wonderful time visiting with them and the kids loved having some real quality time with their grandparents. | |

We spent a day at Tweetsie Railroad,
a local amusement park. They wouldn't let us keep the kids behind bars
overnight. |

One of the major attractions for
our vacation home is access to the Watauga River right across the road.
It's supposed to be one of the best trout fishing streams in the state
of North Carolina, but we haven't caught anything yet. |

| We have a new addition to our family, Porquin. He and our older cat, Snowflake (aka Li'l Rascal), have become great friends. Sometimes they tear around the house chasing each other, but mostly they just wrestle and then sleep. Sadly, our older cat, Puddin', was hit by a car and died. We buried her in the back yard and we will always remember her fondly. | ![]() |
