News from Mt. Pleasant, SC, Fall 2004

Kyle's first organized sport was T-ball this summer. He had a great time and his team was undefeated. OK, so they didn't keep score, and they didn't win any games, either. He had a great time and learned a lot about playing on a team.

Our summer vacation was a wonderful trip to Jamaica during the first week of September, departing from Charleston on our 11th anniversary (September 4th). We arrived at our hotel, CocoLaPalm, near the town of Negril on the westernmost tip of the island, and instantly fell in love with the beautiful sandy beach and the gentle ocean right outside our room.  20 steps from the door put us on the beach, another 20 steps to the BeachBar, and a final 20 steps to the water.
Needless to say, our two waterbugs spent as much time in the ocean as they possibly could.  They loved their new snorkling gear and quickly mastered being able to put it on and adjust it without mom or dad's help - much to mom and dad's relief.  Even from the beach they saw a stingray and a sea snake in addition to numerous fish.  Our glassbottomed boat tour offshore to the reef was a hit.
We loved our long walks along the beach even though we were constantly met by locals trying to sell us anything from seashells to sightseeing trips.
Unfortunately, our stay was cut short by the approach of Hurricane Ivan.  We had to leave 2 days earlier than planned and we we were lucky to get out when we did.  We had a long trip home to Charleston (via Philadelphia) but we were glad that we decided to leave early rather than try to ride out the storm.
We've settled into our Fall routine of school and work.  We're looking forward to a planned visit by Mark's parents for Thanksgiving again this year

Wishing you and your family the best.
Mark, Maria, Kyle, and Cosette.
