(1) You never answer my e-mail!
It is probably because you did not enter your information properly when sending me your question. You must use your MUSC account (no aol, juno, hotmail, etc...) and make sure your e-mail return address has been entered. A good way to make sure that the message with your question and your e-mail address reach me is to copy the message to yourself. Your will receive a copy of your own e-mail when I receive the original of your question. You then know for sure that the message with your e-mail on it has reached me.
(2) It seems like these computers don't like me... It never works for me... I hate this...
You are developing computer phobia! First calm down and be patient. You probably need some help getting started. Please contact me to organize a little help session hands-on. You have to learn to use computers. Clinicians write their notes, evaluations, progress notes on computers in the clinic. They do the billing on computers. Students finishing the curriculum take their board exam on computers...
WebCT
(1) My WebCT account does not work?
Make sure you enter your MNA account login and the correct password. If this does not work, please contcat me.
(2) I am on my computer at home and it does not work?
I am sorry but as explained previously in my Welcome to Human Anatomy homepage, I can not support your computer at home or your ppp account in anyway. Please use the machines situated in the Charleston and Grenville libraries.
Surface anatomy
(1) When I click on "video on CD", I get a page asking me to select a drive?
An IBM compatible computer may prompt you the first time to select the drive where you CD is located (E, D, F, etc...). The computer should remember that information for the rest of the session. You can find out what drive your computer is using for CD by clicking on the "My computer" icon, on your main window page. A Mac machine will read directly the CD.
(2) When I click on "video on server", it takes foreeeeeeever to load or it does not load or the sound is not too good?
This feature "video on server" only works in the Charleston MUSC Library. It will not work in the CHP building, Greenville or at any other locations due the speed of transfer of information on the internet. In these locations, you have to use the surface anatomy CD. Even when it works, the sound might not be as good as the surface anatomy CD. In some cases, the WebCT server is running well but the server where the files are located might be running slow or even not at all. Understand that this is not a problem with the site, surface anatomy or WebCT. You only option in that case is to use the surface anatomy CD or to come back at a later time if you want to use "video on server" only. Sorry.
(3) I was reviewing the surface anatomy lectures in the library using Nestcape and the surface anatomy CD. Everything was working fine. However, one of the file by the end of the lecture is not working. It gives me a message "something something"? What should I do?
Although the surface anatomy site and CD has been checked extensively by the individuals involved with the production of that site and CD, it is still possible that errors exist in the links. This can be fix very easily. Please do not post complaints on the bulletin board. Rather e-mail me the exact lecture and image that seems to be a problem. Let me know the machine where you were working in the library (remember no support for your home computer). If you are clicking on "video on server", make sure that this is not a server problem as described above.
(4) I am on a computer in the library and when I click on "video on CD", a window comes up asking me to register the RealPlayer G2 soffware. What do I do?
Just enter your e-mail address in the proper box and click on "send". The software will be then automatically be registered and you will able to continue with your video.
(5) I am on the computer in the library and it seems like something is wrong with the hardware or a software. What do I do?
First shut down completely the software(s) you are using. Re-open them sequentially and slowly. Be patient. If it still does not work, move to another computer station and notify the front desk or the computer manager for your library. Make sure you let someone know exactly what is wrong so that we can fix the machine/software. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
